Bees and Holidays -Sykesville-
It has been our school’s tradition to make candles out of beeswax sheets for the Winter holidays…We have been learning all about bees: their life cycles, the names of their body parts, pollination, different kinds of bees…We know that bees give us wax which we used to make our own luminaries and lip balm:). Bees give us honey as well…We fingerpainted with honey and used it as a dip for our yummy and crunchy banana pops:). We painted with our hands to make beautiful bee paintings! Our classroom has a sensory bin filled with yellow and black water pearls and bees…It was a lot of fun to dig in it for bees! Jim, from the Carroll County Beekeeper Association, visited our school to talk to us about bees. He showed us wax and lots of pictures. He also let us play a cool game to learn about pollination:). Have you ever heard of Matthew Willey?! He is a mural artist whose mission is to paint 50,000 across America. We enjoyed looking at pictures of his art work. Last week, we celebrated Cassian’s birthday. Happy Birthday, Cassian! Zachary and Adam’s grandparents visited our school to talk to us about Hanukkah…We made dreidels with marshmallows and chocolates kisses:). Did you know that we fixed our own latkes and got to light a Menorah?!
Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah and Happy New Year from all of us at Immanuel:).
