Amazing Summer -Taylorsville-
We can’t get enough summer fun here at our school! We love to create art work on canvas:). One time we used them to paint with puff paint and another time, we melted crayons on them and watched as the wax dripped down the canvas mixing lots of colors! We also got to pour acrylic paint on canvas to create beautiful artwork:). Our solar oven is the coolest thing ever! One time, we used it to bake apple strudel made with phyllo dough that we brushed with butter and rolled with chopped apples, cinnamon and sugar…On the side, we had some delicious dates smoothie:). Another time, we used it to make poached pears with ginger and nutmeg:). They smelled so good! We mashed the ginger with a mortar and pestle and grated whole nutmegs by ourselves:). Did you know you can tie dye shirts with bleach?! Ours turned out pretty cool! Did you see the flower fossils that we made with plaster and clay?! Aren’t they cool! We enjoyed painting them as well:). Want to know how we decorated sea shells with melted crayons?! First, we heated the shells with a hot air gun then went over them with crayons. It was mesmerizing to watch the crayons melt and drip to cover the shells! We also made sun catchers that we decorated with flowers and other items we collected on our nature walk:).
