Apples and Pumpkins Everywhere -Taylorsville-

Throughout the month of October, the children at Immanuel enjoyed a rich, hands-on exploration of apples and pumpkins. They created colorful apple prints, learned about the apple life cycle, washed apples, and practiced fine-motor skills by sewing apple-shaped cardstock. One of the highlights was peeling, coring, and cutting fresh apples, then adding warm, fragrant spices to make homemade applesauce. Their pumpkin study was just as engaging—painting big pumpkins, scooping out seeds, and mixing those seeds with butter and salt to roast before enjoying the tasty snack. They also used a variety of pumpkin stencils to create beautiful artwork, made delicious pumpkin French toast and pumpkin bundles, and discovered the life cycle of pumpkins. Excitement filled the room when the children added vinegar to baking soda inside carved pumpkins to create bubbly pumpkin volcanoes. They even learned about Giuseppe Arcimboldo, the Italian artist known for creating portraits from fruits, vegetables, and other objects, and were inspired to make their own portraits using real produce as well as cutouts. The practical life shelves were filled with charming apple and pumpkin bowls that supported their work. To end this memorable month, the children joyfully released the Monarch butterflies they had been raising in the classroom. It was truly a fun and enriching October! Happy Birthday Emmett:).
