Bees and Holidays -Sykesville-

The holiday season at Immanuel Montessori School is a joyful time of tradition, creativity, and meaningful learning. Each year, our students explore our beloved schoolwide tradition of learning about bees, connecting nature to the holidays by making candles and luminaries from beeswax to take home and share with their families. As a community that celebrates diversity, our classrooms are thoughtfully prepared with lessons honoring both Christmas and Hannukah, filling the shelves with hands-on materials that invite curiosity and respect. The children joyfully made latkes, decorated pine cones with sparkling glitter, and created beautiful artwork inspired by bees and the holiday season. They also enjoyed collage trays filled with scraps of fabric, stencils, paper, and other materials, allowing them to design imaginative scenes about bees and the holidays. Sensory bins filled with black and yellow water pearls and tiny rubber bees invited careful concentration as children searched for and separated the bees from the pearls. To make their luminaries, the children dipped water-filled balloons into warm beeswax, and once the wax hardened, they gleefully popped the balloons, laughing as the water rushed out. When the luminaries were finished, the lights were turned off and the children carefully and proudly held their glowing creations, lighting their classrooms with a warm, magical glow. Through counting with dreidels and composing their own stories, the children experienced a rich blend of cultural celebration, sensory exploration, and joyful Montessori learning. We wish everyone a Joyful and Safe Holiday Season:). Happy Birthday, Maeve and Miles:).
